Masern Ausschlag

Measles: An Overview

Symptoms

Early Symptoms

Measles typically begins with non-specific symptoms, such as fever, cough, and a runny nose. These symptoms are similar to those of the flu.

Later Symptoms

After 2-4 days, characteristic symptoms of measles appear, including a rash, fever, cough, and conjunctivitis (inflammation of the eyes).

The rash usually starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body. It lasts for about 3-4 days and then subsides, often with accompanying scaling.

Mitigated Measles

Some people may experience a milder form of measles, known as mitigated measles. This occurs in individuals who have partial immunity, either due to previous measles infection or vaccination.

Mitigated measles symptoms are generally less severe and may include a fever, a mild rash, and other non-specific symptoms.
