Jantel Lavender's Late Basket Gives Fever the Win

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Jantel Lavender's layup with three seconds remaining lifted the Indiana Fever to a 79-76 victory over the Dallas Wings on Thursday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Wings had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Allisha Gray's desperation three-pointer bounced off the rim. Lavender finished with a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Fever. Victoria Vivians added 17 points and Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 15. Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with 21 points. Marina Mabrey added 16 points and Gray scored 13. The Fever took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Wings 26-14 to take a 10-point lead. The Wings rallied in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to three points with just over a minute remaining, but Lavender's late basket sealed the victory for the Fever. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Fever, who improved to 2-3 on the season. The Wings fell to 2-4 with the loss. Up next, the Fever will host the New York Liberty on Saturday night. The Wings will travel to Minnesota to take on the Lynx on Sunday afternoon.
